We’re entering a new era of work, and AI is at the center of it. Between now and 2028, millions of jobs will disappear, millions more will be redefined, and entirely new roles will emerge. This isn’t a prediction. It’s already underway. In this edition, I break down the data, the risk, and the opportunities: Which roles are growing, which are disappearing, and how to stay relevant in a labor market undergoing generational change.

I just released the AI & The Future of Work Report: 2025–2028, and the patterns are undeniable.

The job market isn’t just changing. It’s being completely restructured.

We’re not talking about vague predictions or far-off sci-fi. We’re talking about:

  • AI copilots replacing administrative layers.
  • Career ladders collapsing into cross-functional pods.
  • Entire categories of “safe” jobs are becoming obsolete.

For example, everyone’s been saying therapists won’t be replaced by AI, but now we have AI therapy bots!

Here’s what the data says:

  • 83 million jobs will be displaced by AI by 2028
  • 69 million new roles will be created—mostly for those who can work with, not around, AI
  • But 152 million jobs will undergo structural churn, meaning the role stays, but the tasks, skills, and tools radically change

KEY FINDINGS
✔️Mid-skill roles are shrinking.

✔️Entry-level analysts, assistants, and schedulers are disappearing fast.

✔️Demand for high-value strategic roles (AI engineers, transformation leads) is growing.

✔️Human-centric physical roles (electricians, caregivers, infrastructure techs) remain stable for now.

💡 Top skills through 2028 include:
✔️ AI Fluency: Understanding how to use, critique, and collaborate with AI tools is becoming essential across every role, not just in tech.

✔️ Systems Thinking: The ability to see interconnections across tools, teams, and outcomes helps navigate increasingly complex AI-augmented environments.

✔️ Ethical Tech Use: As AI systems scale, workers must be able to recognize risks, limitations, and societal impact in real-world deployments.

✔️ Adaptability: With tools and workflows changing rapidly, those who can pivot, learn quickly, and stay flexible will thrive.

✔️ Communication in Human-AI Teams: Expressing ideas clearly and knowing when to defer to a machine or push back is critical in hybrid decision-making environments.

If you’re navigating a career pivot, building a team, or just trying to stay relevant—this report is for you.
